Overseas education and scholarships no longer remain mere dreams for ambitious students now. But what happens to you, when you need urgent medical attention in foreign shores? You will need the medical insurance for international students, of course!
This policy is ideal for overseas students who live in a regulated budget. This insurance policy conditionally remits all medical expenditures incurred by a student during the overseas studentship tenure. However, the overseas student is granted the lucrative insurance cover only if the claim adheres to certain exclusionary clauses.
An injury or illness will be disqualified for insurance cover if the company is not furnished with related documents within 3 months of medical treatment. Pre-existing conditions, which needed diagnosis/ treatment in the look-back period, are covered by the policy. The look back period could range from 6 to 24 months before the commencement of the policy tenure.
The Insurance policy judges the urgency and necessity of the nature of treatment undertaken. So, it does not extend insurance cover to defray expenses incurred in cosmetic surgeries (of non-corrective natures). Free treatments are also not covered by the medical insurance for international students policy.
Injuries received due to conscious violation of legal and political rights are also not covered by international student insurance. So, the insurance policy would not pay for any instance that is deemed willful injury. Injuries sustained in war, while pursuing criminal or terrorist activities are not offered financial insurance cover. The policy also does not extend its medical benefits if the injury/ illness are treated in the student?s native country.
The insurance policy does not extend its financial cover to treat students who were injured while consciously violating the law. Injuries sustained in military or civil strife, or while pursuing activities detrimental to the state are not extended financial benefits by the policy. Injuries incurred in conscious violation of curfew or police prohibition orders are not granted financial cover for treatment.
You are also not advised to demand insurance cover for injuries sustained in pursuit of adventures sports. High risk sports automatically disqualify any insurance cover for medical expenses incurred. If such activities are likely, riders that cover sports and hazardous activities may be added on to some policies at the time of purchase.
Demanding insurance cover for treatments of injuries sustained in pursuit of adventure sports is not advisable. Involvement in high risk sports or hazardous environments disqualifies the insurance cover for incurred medical expenditure. Periodic diagnostic check-ups not related to a particular injury/ illnesses are not covered by the insurance policy. Expenditures incurred while treating clinical abuse and alcoholism are also to be borne by the policyholder. These are some of the primary clauses that would deny applications for financial cover for international students.
