Ted Kennedy Digs In On Health Care For All
As the Boston Globe reports, Senator Kennedy has been a strong supporter of universal health care. And now Kennedy’s vision is more likely to come to fruition, since the Democrats hold a commanding control in the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the White House.
It seems that Democrats see the next two years in power as an open door to passing sweeping health reform. They’ve been dreaming about this for years and now seems to be the time. This is why Kennedy has decided to step down from the Judiciary Chairmanship to expend all his engergies as the Chairmanof the Senate Health, Education and Pensions Committee.
Strong movement toward universal health care and heavy regulations for the health care industry are some of the initiatives we are likely to see coming up. And a never-before-seen effort to sway public opinion regarding health care will likely be upon us very soon.
A single-payer health care system may not be likely in the near future. But mandated health care and heavy regulation on health insurance companies is a likely product of the current rumblings in Congress.
Mandated health insurance and heavy regulation on insurance companies is more likely than ever before. However, as we’ve said before, there’s a lesser chance of a single-payer system coming to fruition.
