I grew up in a small country town spanning vast land in the great state of Texas. I loved my backyard full of bluebonnets, meadows of grass, and of course ragweed. Since my childhood, however, I have enjoyed none of this due to my severe allergy to the outdoors of Texas.
My brother and sister would play outside with the neighbor kids for hours, while I was inside nursing my swelling eyes, runny nose, and sneezing fits. Hot days at school, I couldn’t sit by an open window. I felt plagued by a deathly illness every Spring that was sure to claim my life, only to find it repeatedly diagnosed as seasonal allergies.
I’m sure I am not alone in my desire to completely enjoy the splendor of Spring from the fresh air outside, and not from inside a window next to a humidifier. I also have pledged my life to find a solution for clear sinuses throughout the year. I will not miss another night’s sleep due to pressure in my nose and forehead, or overly clogged airways.
It must be mention what has been tried. The promise of relief has driven me too many times to the doctor and pharmacists spending thousands on the newest remedy. Especially if you live in Texas, medicine is a necessary cure in fighting off the problematic 24 hour histamines.
But you shouldn’t assume that a prescription is needed to help with your sinus problems. Over-the-counter drugs are often seen as ineffective, but all it means is that they no longer owe money towards their debts for development of the drug and can be sold for a lower price to the masses. Any of these products are useful in fighting against your allergy problem. Does that cover it, though?
For me, no, I need more than just one pill. The stronger the pill the more serious the side effects, and I can survive without constant drowsiness and dry cotton mouth. Other additions can be put with the medication to provide a more natural defense against the histamines.
One such product is an air purifier. They range from being quite affordable to very expensive, depending on which you prefer. I invested in a Honeywell system that is adequate for the square footage of my apartment, for the same price I would have used in nasal sprays for a year. Immediately I felt a change in the air I was breathing, especially at night, just by having this machine on.
To also help moisten the air and help your breathing, humidifiers are excellent. Many doctors have recommended this particularly effective for small children. Before you turn to nasal sprays, take caution. They can make your nose dependent on them by robbing your sinuses of natural moisture. If any are used at all, try basic saline nose solution that you can use frequently with no side effects.
A better idea exists to completely irrigate your sinus cavity, and that is the SinuCleanse. Doctors have worked to create a masterful solution to natural decongesting. This now stands alone as the only method of nasal decongestant that I use.
Morning and night I fill the teapot designed contraption with lukewarm water and a packet of included saline solution. Then I pour the teapot into each nostril one after the other with my head completely tilted sideways, so as to drain the solution completely through the passages. The result is astounding.
Even when I think my nose is as clean from mucus and snot as it can get, after I use the SinuCleanse, the dam is broken inside my nose releasing all the sinus pressure. I drip my nose clean for the next few minutes and I can breath like I’ve never breathed before. I truly feel a rebirth inside my nose from this device and feel it would adequately suit any person with any nasal issues at all.
We should let the beautiful land we live in destroy our ability to enjoy it. Solutions do exist to allergy and nasal problems wherever you live. Especially the vast state of Texas, where there is so much to enjoy, and so many allergens trying to prevent us from doing so. Take a stroll out across acres of property without a single sneeze once you’ve tried some of these suggestions.
