Fish Provides Help for Juvenile Diabetics

There are times when the simplest solution is just what we need. Don’t you think that is just great? There has been research that shows that a problem like juvenile diabetes that has actually become a problem for millions of children around the world, needs only a very simple solution ? salmon!

Research conducted by the Norwegian Institute of Health reveals that children who were given cod liver oil (relax, I’ll talk about salmon later) while they were still very young, are at 25% lesser at risk to juvenile diabetes; quite a significant number. The result of this research was viewed as very important that it was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The Scientists who studied these results believe that the anti inflammatory capabilities of omega 3 fatty acids in some fishes that contain high amounts of EPA and DHA are the ones responsible for this. Oh that was quite a mouthful, but it can work wonders. Salmon happens to be the biggest source of EPA and DHA. (Like I told you I’d get to salmon!)

There are two types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. With both types, the person is not able to produce sufficient amounts of insulin and this causes blood sugar problems. Adults usually get the type 2 diabetes while children get the type 1. But recently, there has been an alarming rise of children also getting the type 2 diabetes because of a poor lifestyle health habit.

Juvenile diabetes, or also known as the type 1 diabetes normally begins in childhood or adolescence. With this type of diabetes, the insulin production stops, hence the need for daily insulin injections. These insulin injections have complications though, and within 15 years of the onset of diabetes, an estimate of 80% of patients ends up having major eye damage. Some may experience kidney failure and may need dialysis. But the scariest thing is 35% of juvenile diabetics’ die of heart attack as they reach the age of 50.

Don’t you thing that it is great that omega 3 fish can rescue them? But hey this is not the first time. For two decades now, research has been conducted and has proven that EPA and DHA have lots of health benefits and among it is the positive result it can provide to type 2 diabetics. The latest study now shows that omega 3 fish oil may also prevent the type 1 diabetes. This may make you want you kiss a fish. (Or perhaps not!)

Salmon that is found in the unpolluted Arctic Ocean waters seems to be the greatest source for fish oil. EPA and DHA are derived from cold water fish, such as cod and salmon. The anti-inflammatory properties of omega 3 in fish oil is aid to be the one that helps prevent type 1 diabetes, since it is commonly caused by an autoimmune disease.

Mothers who take in fish oil during pregnancy and lactation give their babies life-long of health benefits. The EPA and DHA in fish oil improve the baby’s nervous system, hearing and vision. Omega 3 fish oil is also essential in the development of a baby’s brain and produces intelligent babies according to research.

Thus if you want to see your children grow up to be smart, strong and healthy, I highly recommend that you make sure you and your family include cold water fish and high doses of omega 3 salmon oil capsules to your daily diet.
