Cookie Diet Just Another Fad Diet

The cookie diet may take the cake as the world’s most horrible ever fad diet. In essence this diet says that amino acids baked into cookies can control hunger.

Fad diets seem to be everywhere these days. In general a fad diet is a diet which is designed to last for short periods of time, during which large amounts of weight can so they say be lost. Often times, like the cookie diet, these diets rely on one miracle food with amazing properties for weight loss. They are usually sold by a series of wild claims, much like the old pitch men pitched in the traveling medicine shows.

Sanford Siegel created the cookie diet in 1975 while he was doing research for a nutrition book. This cookie diet consisted of patients eating six cookies each day in place of meals, then eating a reasonable dinner. All told the daily caloric intake was about 800 calories. Very quickly the cookie diet became a huge success, with 14 clinics in Florida and 10 in Latin America expounding this amazing weight loss formula. In the middle 1980s over 200 doctors were prescribing Dr. Siegel’s cookie diet in their own practices. The diet was quickly expanded to miracle soups and shakes that also contained the amino acids.

There is another version of the cookie diet referred to as the Hollywood cookie diet because it became popular with many Hollywood stars. The diet benefited from the media efforts of all the stars who tried it to lose weight. This diet is similar to the original in that it consists of a cookie for breakfast, a cookie as a snack in the morning, a cookie for lunch, a cookie as a mid-afternoon snack, and then a reasonable dinner. These cookies each contain 150 calories and fiber, protein and minerals.

Don’t waste time with the cookie diet. Eat less, exercise more that’s the formula for good health. Forget miracle foods even if a star tells you to try them.

I understand your concern regarding the cookie diet. It does sound like a fad. Although, It is not it’s just calories. What are Kcalories??? They are Fat, Protein and Carbohydrates.
Are Calories a fad? Unfortunately in this day and age, Yes. The point is EAT! Eat a cookie eat a muffin eat what ever!!! The thing about the cookies is it have the right amount of Protein, fat, and carbohydrates in a ratio and you eat every 2 hours to keep your metabolism going – Ever notice FAT people usually eat little or nothing during the day and thin people eat all the time? I’m one of those ‘thin’ People – It’s not rocket science- I’m frustrated with these blogs that knock good things. Here’s a blog topic —-“ how bout taxing McDonalds for your ‘stimulus’ package???” They are who you should be bad mouthing!!! If magnificent Palozi taxed the heck out of them, We wouldn’t have the overwhelming amount of OBESE people!! Go get ‘em!

  2. haha. Cookie Diet? Now that is a new one. I agree with you aquagirl that a lot of people just don’t eat enough. They need to keep thier metabolism working, but at the same time you can for sure eat something healthier than a cookie! Even a PB &J sandwhich sounds a whole lot better.
