The Hollywood Cookie Diet has quickly become one of the most best selling diet programs in Hollywood. It is one of the strangest diets out there. The diet system claims that you can lose weight by eating cookies four times daily. On a day by day basis you will eat four cookies a day, and then a meal of vegetables and protein nothing else. The diet was created by diet guru Sanford Siegal to help people with thyroid problems. However it’s been the latest fad diet to hit the USA, celebrities like Kelly Clarkson and Mandy Moore claiming to have lost weight using the weight loss system.
Like a lot of fad diets this one involves restricting your diet and eating around 800 calories a day. When I first began this diet was incredibly sceptical of its results. As a big cookie fan, I was thrilled when I discovered the diet because I could eat my favorite snack and lose weight. However I was going to be paying around $100 for a diet program based on eating cookies which I could buy loads for two dollars at the grocery store. You cannot substitute cookies or make your own.
I decide to try this diet out of curiosity, not because I really want to lose weight at the time. It just seemed like a strange and weird diet that I had to try. I weighed hundred and 120lbs I started the diet, which is at the lower end of my normal body weight. Typically I weigh between 120lbs and 130lbs although my weight does fluctuate above and below this depending on my eating habits at the time. I saw them advertised on the Internet and thought I might as well try it. Like most fad diets, it’s the kind of diet than sounds way too good to be true, claiming you could lose 15lbs in a month, and eat cookies! It came in a variety of flavors and chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and lemon personally liked the chocolate chip the best.
Due to the small the small numbers of calories you are consuming a day you are likely to use weight fast, I lost approximately 5 pounds in seven days. This diet is very extreme, a lot people cannot survive on 800 calories a day. Due to the sever lack of calories some people experience headaches and felt weak whilst attempting the weight loss system. I did this diet 21 days, and lost around seven pounds, I was unable to exercise during most of the diet. Typically a workout in the gym four times a week, daily managed to do a brisk walk twice a week because I do not feel up to the gym. When on restrictive diets you normally adjust after a few days on the diet and feel somewhat normal again. Although the cookies are said to contain all the vitamins and minerals you need a day. Personally I don’t believe this feel they have little nutritional value. I also found that because I was eating cookies I was giving into my cravings and restricting myself from food, rather than learning to eat healthily. The cost of the cookies burnt a hole in my pocket; they are ridiculously over priced, and compared to other cookies on the market they taste like cardboard.
The plan is quite unrealistic and very expensive. If you were too restricting you diet to 800 calories of healthy food, rather than four cookies and a small dinner, you would be able to lose weight without giving into your cravings and feeding temptations. 800 calories as a ridiculous amount eat in a day. Typically it is advised when dieting to eat between 1200 calories and 1500 calories. The cookies seem like a ridiculous addition to a diet system. Although the diet has worked for me and many other people, it’s not because of the cookies because people are restricting themselves of food.
I can see where people are drawn to this diet system, they think it’s great because you can eat cookies and lose weight. However the only reason they are losing weight is the consumer restricting themselves to a diet that is less than half of daily calorie amount an adult should have. Personally I think there are so many other diet systems out there that have better results and teach person to eat better. I didn’t feel the time is spent on the Hollywood Cookie diet was worth it at all, ended up putting all the weight back on in the end. It genuinely wasn’t worth the money or the time.
