Canceling health insurance can cost you

There are many people having to cut back on expenses to make it during this trying financial time. One area that is untouchable is health insurance. Never cancel health insurance just to save money. Without some health insurance most would not be able to handle medical expenses.

You can still save when it comes to health insurance however. You can take a look at your current plan and decide if you can live without some of the benefits and opt for a scaled down plan to save money. It is better then canceling.

Another thing to think about is going with an individual plan, where you get to choose the plan, benefits and control premium. Many people are finding they are saving hundreds by purchasing their own health insurance rather then taking the employer offered plan.

Let’s say you are one of those kind of people that only go to the doctor once or twice per year. You may think about going with a major medical or reduced benefit plan, that only covers a couple of visits per year for a huge saving.

Okay let’s say you changed jobs and you will only be without insurance for 90 days. You should never have a lapse in coverage so you should buy a short term or temporary policy to cover you for the 90days. This will keep you protected from the inevitable.

A temporary or short term plan just makes more sense then going uninsured. The unexpected does occur and usually when it is the worse time. A trip to the hospital can end up costing $10000 or more. Can you afford to pay all of that out of your pocket?

The most popular option in health insurance policies these days are PPO plans. They are flexible and convenient. You just decide what benefits are important to you, surf the web and find a plan that matches that need and your budget.

I understand as well as anyone how it is to struggle! But I can not stress how important it is to have good health insurance. There are to many options not to find what you can handle. With just a few clicks or a phone call to an agent and you can get the insurance you need.
